Holiday Expectaions

All dogs have different personalities. Some dogs are completely fine when introduced to a chaotic environment and some dogs simply shut down. Understanding Dominant and Submissive Behavior

We always hear the terms dominant and submissive being loosely used when describing our dogs behavior or to describe the method of training being applied. Understanding the natural balance of these two very important behaviors is incredibly important. Often the word dominant construes as aggressive and submissive construes as fearful. These are very different behaviors and are often confused. Healthy levels of aggression and fear are also natural behaviors of communication. However, forward aggression in many instances (NOT ALL) is a product of fear. Fear meaning lack of structure or communication both internal (within the pack), and external (the expectation of the stranger).
